Over the years we have been engaged on a number of special or unusual projects. Here we present pictures and brief notes on some of the most interesting examples.
Samye Ling Tibetan Centre, Eskdalemuir, Langholm, Scotland DG13 0QL
Engineers: Ove Arup & Partners Edinburgh

The reinforced concrete beams on this building needed to be strengthened. We were engaged to carry out the work, which involved installing steel jackets around the beams. These were extremely heavy and had to be lifted into place within a very confined space. Work was completed on time to a tight programme. The upper floors were lifted 6mm by five jacks (above left) each carrying 45 tonnes.
The following year we were successful in tendering for the project to construct a visitor centre at Samye Ling. (pictured below)
This building has a copper roof in an unusual pagoda style.

Langholm Stormwater Overflow.
Client: Dumfries & Galloway Regional Council

FIRST IN SCOTLAND !
We built an innovative new type of Storm Water System designed to reduce pollution.
This was the first in Scotland. To build the system we had to apply a high
level of technical skills, working on a difficult site with limited access.
