Greenpark - Lockerbie ~ General Information - See the new Houses

The market town of Lockerbie is pleasantly situated in the Annandale Valley with road and rail access to the Central Belt of Scotland and the North and East of England all within one and a half hours. The general area is still a thriving farm based community and has been recognised as the most healthy and desirable region in the UK as a place to live.

Within a walking distance of around five minutes are both the primary and secondary schools. A well equipped nursery is within the school grounds. Paisley University, the University of Glasgow and Bell College all have campuses on the Crichton hospital grounds in Dumfries.
Leisure and Recreation
The area is well endowed with facilities and locations for a host of activities. Lockerbie has its own 18 hole golf course in a spectacular location overlooking the wide fertile Annandale Valley. Other sports facilities within walking distance from Greenpark include a bowling green, a squash club and an ice rink for both curlers and skaters, home to the South of Scotland team. The local southern counties football team pitch is also only 5 minutes walk at King Edward Park. Lockerbie also has its own drama club at ‘The Little Theatre’. Youth activities include a youth club and drop-in centre (recently extended and modernised by Haywards Contracting Division). Other activities include Cub Scouts and Guides, Army Cadets and Air Training Corps. Each summer ockerbie holds its Gala week and Riding of the Marches, which involves the local community in historic and recreational activities, celebrating the heritage of Lockerbie.
Health Care
The health care services in Dumfries and Galloway are widely recognised as being one of the best in the UK. With the relatively low population density, the area does not suffer the many problems in healthcare often associated with the major urban areas today. Lockerbie, of course, has its own dental surgery and health centre. Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is less than half an hour away with accident and emergency, maternity and general medical provision.
Retail Therapy
Main shopping centres are within easy access at both Carlisle and Dumfries. Local shops and supermarket are located in Lockerbie High Street. The cities of Glasgow, Newcastle and Edinburgh are all less than two hours by car and obviously less by train from Lockerbie and Carlisle Stations. There are a wide range of national fashion and sports retailers including the new Gretna Gateway Centre around twenty minutes away. An 8 million pound extension to the centre has just been announced.
